The Insider Business Club Webinar: Beyond the finance factory
11 October, London, UK
The exclusive Insider Business Club was set up to tackle pressing business issues with in-depth analysis and exclusive comment from influential players in the financial world. The webinar discussed the most effective ways to create strong finance department structures and then use shared services most appropriately.
Chaired by Andrew Sawers, Editor of Financial Director journal, the event also included Melanie Knight Head of UK Shared Services, Capgemini Consulting and John O’Brien, a senior analyst at Ovum.
The debate centred on the answering the following questions:
- As finance directors look to spend more of their time focusing on strategy, do shared service centres have a role to play in freeing up their diaries?
- How can FDs and senior members of their teams best manage the roles and responsibilities of a centralised function and of the core team that’s left to run the organisation?
- How can they become intelligent customers of centralised services?
- How can they ensure that the relationships are effective?

Consolidation and new interface and back-end technologies
shake up the old order.

to its business transformation needs, teaming up with
neighbouring Northumberland to reduce IT costs by around
900,000 per year, using the savings to improve its own
