SOCITM Annual Conference

The Shared Services presentation is entitled Extreme' shared services and will be presented by Ian Lowrie, chief executive Adur District Council. The case study will explain why the council has agreed with Worthing District Council to share one workforce, and anticipated benefits in terms of savings on management overheads and rationalization of business systems.

In February this year, Public Service Events hosted Shared Services for Local Government: Prepare to Share. In response to demand for a look at Shared Services across the whole of the public sector, a follow up conference has been organised, Shared Services for the Public Sector: Transformation through Collaboration. With further cross-sector efficiency targets beginning to bite, the pressure is on to save money through consolidating services, and the progress of Shared Services across the public sector is currently under scrutiny, with the NAO currently analysing what has been achieved so far.
